Travel with CAS to one of the top birding locations in all of North America: Cape May, New Jersey, located in the very heart of the Atlantic Flyway. This trip is sure to appeal to both avid & novice birders alike, as it is timed to catch all the birding action of the fall migration along the Eastern Seaboard.

Cape May’s location makes it a special birding hot spot. It is positioned on the southernmost tip of New Jersey, and is situated exactly where birds that are migrating from points north “drop out” before crossing the Delaware Bay. Warblers, raptors, and waterfowl all abound here during the month of September, as do a myriad of shorebirds.

As you can see from the itinerary, the trip will cover sites that are well known for quality birding. There also will be a group “Pizza in the Park” dinner the first night where we can get to know each other better and get updates on the trip. Participants should find and make their own lodging arrangements. The are many options in and around Cape May to fit a range of budgets. The Youth Contests for 2021-2022 close today!

Conococheague Audubon Society’s Youth Contests offer opportunities for young people to win a cash prize! Both our “Longest Bird Species List of the Year” and “Best Bird Photo of the Year” contests involve your love of nature and your keen observation skills. The contests will be judged in two different age groups – ages 5 to 15 and ages 16 to 18. See details on the Youth Contest page. The contests started last year on December 1, 2021 and end tonight, when you submit your entries at our regular meeting.

Please note: We need your parent’s/guardian’s permission for you to enter the contest and for us to report selected information about you to our members and the public. Your parent/guardian must also affirm your entries comply with the rules. So, be sure you have the completed necessary forms when you submit your entries.
