American Woodcock

Field Trip: To see and hear the mating rituals of AMERICAN WOODCOCKS.
Drive to Heisey Road orchard.
Witness the annual mating flight of these woodland birds.
Bring flashlight.
Be prepared for tall, wet grass.
Meeting place: Park & Ride, Scotland, Exit 20, I-81 northbound. Meet at the Park & Ride at 5:45 PM , or go directly to Heisey Road orchard on your own and be there by 6:00 PM
Destination: Heisey Road orchard. Note: birders are welcome, despite the Posted signs.

American Woodcock

Field Trip: To see and hear the mating rituals of AMERICAN WOODCOCKS at the abandoned Heisey Road Orchard. Tentative date, pending arrival of birds.
NOTE: This trip is also offered Wednesday, 11 March at 6:45 AM because the birds started calling in early March.
Head to 5207 Heisey Road, Shippensburg, but park 0.10 mile off of Stillhouse Hollow Rd next to abandoned orchard.
Bring flashlight.

Middle Creek WMA for Waterfowl

Destination: Middle Creek Wildlife Management Area, Lancaster County.
Auto tour for migrants. Hoping for large numbers of Snow Geese and Tundra Swans; also many ducks and other waterfowl.
Bring scopes, binoculars, and lunch.
Be prepared to take the PA Turnpike.

Auto tour for WATERFOWL.
Friday – Sunday, 17 February – 19 February, 2023. Leave from Martins’ home at 1:00 PM Friday.

Bring scopes, binoculars, and lunch.
